Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if I can't find study tables in the subject that I need?
    • If none of our study tables fit your needs, please contact us at learningcommons@jcu.edu. We will work with you to identify other academic support opportunities.
  • What are the steps involved with adding a new study table at the Learning Commons?
    • First we will reach out to the academic department to get recommendations for candidates to fill the position. Next we will conduct interviews and hire a Peer Learning Facilitator. The hiring process takes several weeks when training time is also accounted for.
    • Faculty: Is there a student you recommend as a Peer Learning Facilitator? Please contact us at learningcommons@jcu.edu.
  • What if the scheduled Learning Commons study table times do not fit into my schedule?
    • Feel free to contact us at learningcommons@jcu.edu, and we’ll be happy to look into availability for individual sessions. Please note that scheduling depends on our current staffing, but we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
What do I do if I need help right away?
    • In addition to reaching out to us, we recommend connecting with your professor during their scheduled office hours—they're a great resource for guidance and support. You might also consider contacting the Academic Success Center, which offers helpful services and resources to support your academic success.
