Access Services Department

What is Textbook Sharing?

  • Textbook Sharing at Grasselli Library is a service that gives students access to selected course textbooks.
  • These books are geared toward students that:
    • Cannot afford to purchase their textbook at the beginning of the term, or just want to save money!
    • Accidentally leave textbooks at home.
    • Haven't decided for sure to remain in a course and don't want to buy the book yet.
  • These items are available for a 2-hour period for use in the library.
  • We hope that this program will assist you on your path to academic success!

Other Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I take textbooks out of the library?  No, they must remain in the library at all times.Textbooks that are not returned or damaged will automatically incur a $200 replacement fee, late return fees, and your library account will be frozen, which will prevent you from being able to check out library materials or access databases online.
  • Can I underline or highlight these books?  No, you can not. Underlining or highlighting these texts will generate a replacement fee for the damaged item.
  • What is the lending period for a checked-out textbook? Same as Course Reserves -- 2 hrs. These books incur a $1 per hour fine if overdue.
  • Why aren't all of my class textbooks on Course Reserve? The Library considers a number of factors when selecting which textbooks to purchase. The combined criteria we use for selecting the textbooks are: classes with high enrollment (20 or more students), introductory classes with multiple sections, and textbooks that cost over $100.
