Poster Presentations

How to create and present an academic conference poster.

What Is a Poster Presentation?

Academics and researchers create posters to communicate their original scholarship and research in a quick, engaging, and visually appealing way. Poster sessions allow individuals to share their main findings with attendees, get feedback on their projects, and network with others in their field.

Check the Requirements

Before designing a poster, check the conference's poster session requirements on the conference website or in the "call for proposals."

Consider This

Before creating a poster, consider the following questions:

  • What is the most important/interesting/astounding finding from my research?
  • How can I visually share my research with conference attendees? Should I use charts, graphs, photos, images?
  • What kind of information can I convey during my talk that will complement my poster?
