Academic Year 2021-2022 Summary

Dashboard of data and analysis for FY22

How Library Resources are Found

To support research that can happen any time and place, Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center for the discovery of information provides access to over 275 databases to the JCU community. This academic year, the library also implemented a new tool, LibKey, to facilitate connecting users to materials found both on the web and through library databases. The library's home page allows users to search through our "discovery layer" across both print and electronic resources, or use the traditional library catalog. And, our help desk staff are always happy to assist in finding materials in person, or by chat, phone, and email.

Search Trends

The primary tools provided by the library to find and access library resources are Carrolline (the traditional library catalog), direct access of a database (usually through the library's A-Z list of databases), and the EDS (Ebsco Discovery Service), called "quick search" on the library's home page. The levels at which these tools are used differ by a factor of 1000, with as many as 2,500,000 searches conducted in the EDS in a month. JSTOR is the single most used content provider to which the library subscribes.
